QUEEN'S DAY 4/30/2013
Dutch holiday Koninginnedag is called "Queen's Day" because let's be real, who can pronounce any Dutch word? It's Queen Beatrix's official celebration, but for whatever reason it's April 30 'cause that's her mom's birthday. Many of the traditional activities are held outside, or in bars with open garage doors, traditionally. These include floral parades, nationwide vrijmarkt ("free market"), and best of all
"orange madness" or oranjegekte , for the national color, when the normally strait-laced Dutch let down their hair,often dyed orange for the occasion.
In honor of this orangest of all holidays, we'll have
